Stop looking for "the one"
This mythical being who was made for you and you alone
There isn't any one person who can magically cure everything that ever hurt
Do not put this pressure on every mate you have
Then shame them when they walk away as if they're failing the master plan
Instead look around and realize
Life will give you more than just "the one"
You'll get the one who's ego teaches you humility
The one who's demons quiet yours when they are near
The one who breaks your heart just so you can watch it mend
The one who teaches you that loyalty can outlast that initial flame
The one who chases you incessantly to give up in the end
The one who changes your perception of time and space
The one who'll love you longer than you expected
The one who's friendship is essential
The one who saves you from yourself
The one who pushes you to be your best
Some might even find the one who pledges them a lifetime of mornings and nights
Odds are you've been the one more than once
Maybe without knowing it been the one who saved someone's life
Who knows?
The one who starts the next chapter of your life might soon arrive
Maybe when someone leaves it's only to make room for the next "the one"
